The exhibition, sponsored by the German Research Foundation (DFG), permits a glance at everyday life and working-class culture of the 1920s and 1930s. Not only private photographs, but also shots that were deliberately deployed in the press will be on show. In addition to images by proletarian amateurs, aesthetically sophisticated, artistic photographs by Walter Ballhause, Albert Hennig or political photo montages by John Heartfield can be seen in particular.
