Bettina Flitner spent ten days in a large brothel in Stuttgart. She asked the guests: “Why are you here?” The men, aged between 23 and 73, answered – and allowed themselves to be pictured seated on beds. The series was published in Stern magazine. It is the first part of the “Facing Prostitution” series. The second part – portraits of street prostitutes – will be on show, along with the portraits of the Johns – in Flitner's retrospective exhibition “Menschen” at the Michael Horbach Foundation in Cologne in January 2015.
