Dominic Nahr

Dominic Nahr, who is based in Nairobi (Kenya), was born in 1983 in Switzerland, grew up in Hong Kong and studied until 2008 at Ryerson University in Toronto.
For his works in Sudan, Somalia, Egypt and in the Democratic Republic of Congo he has received distinctions such as the World Press Photo Award, Pictures of the Year, Sony World Photography Awards, and the Oskar Barnack up-and-coming talent award.
His photos, which show fighting between the government troops and the CNDP rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo, were exhibited at the international "Visa pour l’image festival" in Perpignan. Nahr’s clients include The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Stern, LFI, The Wall Street Journal.
Dominic Nahr is currently working on the publication of a monograph on the repercussions of the Tohoku earthquake, the tsunami and the nuclear fallout in Fukushima. His work shows a particular interest in the undiminished, continuing psychological and physical effects that this devastating environmental disaster triggered for the Japanese population.
