Daniel Etter is a freelance photographer and author. He is a graduate of the German School of Journalism, has a Master’s in political science and is a beneficiary of the Kathryn Davies Fellowship for Peace.
His photos have been published among others in the New York Times, TIME Magazine, Newsweek and Stern. Daniel Etter’s photo of the Gezi protests in Istanbul was nominated by TIME Magazine and the New York Times as one of the best pictures of 2013 – there is a monument which recreates the photograph in the Turkish city of Izmir. His texts have been published in Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, NEON and others. For his reportage from Aleppo he won the Axel Springer Award in 2013.
